Logan City Council’s Animal Management Centre welcomed residents to an open day, showcasing its upgraded facilities designed to set a new standard in animal care and disease management. The $21 million redevelopment project was initiated to cater to the growing population of pets in the city, which already boasts over 60,000 registered cats and dogs. Mayor Jon Raven emphasized the importance of the new centre in providing top-notch care for animals and encouraging responsible pet ownership.

The upgraded centre features advanced amenities such as multi-level “cat condos” with individual ventilation, UV filtration systems, and spacious kennels for dogs. The facility also houses an onsite vet clinic offering low-cost desexing and microchipping services. The open day allowed residents to explore the state-of-the-art facilities and interact with animals available for adoption.

Cat enthusiasts were particularly thrilled with the luxurious accommodations provided in the “cat condos,” complete with bedroom areas, eating spaces, and ensuite litter tray facilities. The centre can accommodate up to 112 cats, ensuring a comfortable stay for each feline resident. Dogs are not left behind, with up to 30 dogs housed in well-equipped kennels featuring amenities like hydrobaths and soundproofing to minimize barking noise.
Additional enhancements at the Animal Management Centre include a sensory garden for human-animal interaction, a modern laboratory for mosquito identification, a native fish breeding area for mosquito control, and a new aviary for domesticated birds. The facility also boasts long stay kennels for dogs undergoing behavioral assessments and eco-friendly features like solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations.
The upgraded centre aligns with the city’s commitment to providing the best care for pets and promoting responsible pet ownership practices. Residents had the opportunity to witness firsthand the innovative improvements made to the facility, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for animals awaiting adoption. With Logan City Council’s dedication to animal welfare, the new era for pets and people has truly begun at the Animal Management Centre.
